Armor items are worn by NPCs. Creatures cannot wear armor. Each piece of armor is designated to cover certain parts of the body. Only one piece of armor can cover each body part. This list is shared with other object types, such as clothing and jewelry. Therefore not every entry has meaning.
- Type: This pulldown is not labelled, but it sets the armor type to light or heavy.
- Health: The amount of damage the armor can take before it is broken. The percentage of health remaining is also factored in when determining the calculated armor rating.
- AR: The base armor rating of this piece of armor.
- Enchanting: The enchantment object associated with the object. Must be all Self effects.
- Playable: If not checked, the player cannot equip it, and it doesn't show up in dead actor's inventories.
- Hide Amulet: If checked, equipped amulets are not shown on the 3D model of the actor.
- Hide Rings: If checked, equipped rings are not shown on the 3D model of the actor.
- Biped Object: The parts of the body that are covered by the armor.
- Male: These NIF files and DDS files are used for male actors. There are two NIF options, one for on an actor, and one for laying on the ground.
- Female: These NIF files and DDS files are used for female actors. If undeclared, the files from the male are used.
Armor rating is the sum of all the armor pieces. Damage done to the actor wearing the armor is reduce by this number as a percentage. For example, an armor rating of 12 reduces damage done by 12%.
