Charge Amount: The amount of total charge consumed when the effect is activated or used. Enchantment Cost: The total cost to cast the effects.

From what I understand, there is absolutely no difference between Charge Amount and Enchantment cost. Could somebody explain further? --MaXiMiUS 22:20, 10 April 2006 (EDT)

Sure. The Charge Amount is the amount of "Enchantment" that the weapon, item, etc. must have capacity for. In other words, the item must be able to handle an enchantment up to "Charge Amount" to purchase the enchantment. Enchantment Cost is the amount of charge reduced from the item's charge when cast. Obviously, for missile weapons this is a non-issue.
If, for instance, you wish to enchant a Ebony Staff with a Cast When Used enchantment that requires 75 as Charge Amount, and the Ebony Staff can handle up to a maximum charge of 300, you can enchant the weapon. But if the enchantment cost is also 75, you will only be able to use the weapon 4 times before it loses its charges. If, on the other hand, the Charge Amount is 75 and the Enchantment Cost is 1, you will be able to use the enchantment 300 times before all charges are lost.
I am unsure where someone got the idea that the Charge Amount refers to the expense of casting/use, but they were mistaken. --Evident 15:05, 20 May 2006 (EDT)

Hello. I wanted to tinker with Azura's Star, but stumbled into a problem. There is no script attached to the Starat all, and the enchanting altar only calls showEnchantment. So is the Enchantment system completely inaccesible to the user? I wanted to look at how it handled Azura's Star and derive a script for a Black Star, but it seems like a bust. Thanks.
