"Forty-two," said Deep Thought, with infinite calm and majesty, "the answer to the question of Life, the Universe, and Everything."

Here are some quick Wiki tips that might help:

  1. There is a Help link on the upper left, which many people miss. If you're new and have a question, it may very well be answered there. If not, Wikipedia has a ton of pages with information on Wikis, or you can always ask me.
  2. Any time you make a major change to an article, explain why in the Talk page.
  3. Sign everything in the talk page. Do this using ~~~~, or the second button from the right.
  4. Do not sign articles at all. It looks unprofessional.
  5. Do not mark anything not-minor as a minor edit. Minor edits are typos and formatting changes, any actual change or addition to the information of the article are Major edits. If unsure, do not mark it Minor, since it is better to have someone check it even though it is a minor change than to have someone miss a major change.
  6. Always state what you've changed in the Summary box.
  7. Never worry about "messing up" a page - there're a lot of people around here (like me) who just hang out and read the changes as they happen, and we'll fix any mistakes you make (and probably let you know so you don't make that mistake in the future). If you want to see the latest changes to the Wiki, there's a special page for that, Recent Changes, which you can find a link to in the Navigation box on the upper left.

Of course, there are some times exceptions. For instance, some changes to an article are self explanatory; many minor changes don't need to be Talked about. Sometimes signing an article does make sense, such as when you've posted on the forum and are creating an article about that post, or are writing your own Solution to a Question. Rules 2, 4, and 5 have absolutely no exceptions that I can think of, however.
