How do I see my changes (answer included cleaning mod, as well as patch updates)
Hello :)
I have a problem with the OblivionCS, I am pretty experienced with the MorrowindCS so I don't think the problem is me. The problem is this: When I create something with the CS and I save the plugin. I launch the Oblivion-Launcher and I check the box for the plugin at the 'Data files' menu. But then when I start the game the changes that I've made in my plugin do not show. The CS and Oblivion are both the latest versions. I've noticed that in the 'My first dungeon' tutorial at the part where they tell you how to test-play by changing the Oblivion.ini, that that doesn't work for me. Please can someone help me out? I'm desperate.

:Qazaaq 18:36, 28 June 2007 (EDT): Some changes only show up if you start a new game. A saved game before the sewer exit doesn't count, unless you have one without any mods at all.
::Megamaff Ive had the same problem, and ive tried it when starting a new game, and dont tell me its the data files stuff cus i know all that stuff, i love installing mods :D When i make changes i go to see them and they arent there. Ticked them, saved them and everything. WTFs wrong???

From what you have described, I don't see anything wrong, but something must be wrong, since you're not seeing the changes that you made.
:::Try to describe more what you're trying to do, what changes you made, how you made them, and what actually shows up in game. That will give us more information to work with.
:::Also, please try to be polite about it, and please write in standard American English, not AOL-talk or whatever. I'm not looking for the next great American novel, but your previous post was rather difficult to understand. Proper spelling, grammar, capitalization, and punctuation will go a long way to help us understand what you are saying.

::::Okay, I'm new to the whole wiki stuff and to modding, but to the problem - I've made a simple house mod just for a test to see what i can do. When i go on the game, after saving the mod and ticking it in Data files, it isnt there. I've tried starting a new game to see if it works then, but theres still nothing. Just whats supposed to be there on the game itself. Its just this one problem, and once its solved then i can start modding. Thanks for your help by the way. And im not american. -__-

That is quite rude. Secondly, your own nationality does not matter - this Wiki is for an American company, and so the standard language used on this Wiki is American English. This is done for the sake of consistency and read-ability - sections written in Russian or Italian or whatever would be rather out of place, and would also cause problems because there is always the possibility that no one here can read a given language to make sure the content is good. So use American English, and try to make it legible.
Your newest post is fine, by the way. I was just explaining why I said to use American English.
As for your problems, have you tried re-loading your plug-in in the CS? Is everything still OK? If so, then double-check that you have the correct plug-in checked in Oblivion's Data Files (or use Wrye Bash or OBMM). That is all that is necessary to get the changes in the CS to appear in game, so if there are still problems, then I don't know what to say.
You could check to see if the house has a script on it that causes it to be Disabled, though that's unlikely. Where have you put this house? What "style" is it in?
:Megamaff The interior is joint with Anvil castles royal quarters, havent learnt how to make my own cell yet and Its just a normal anvil house in anvil. Twice aswel. I did 2 to see if it was a problem with the house. I also did one just outside Bruma and had the same problem. Ill take a look at Wry Bash and OBMM, just dont know what they do. Thanks for the info
::<span style="font-family: Oblivion, Daedric Runes; size=2;">D</span>ragoon <span style="font-family: Oblivion, Daedric Runes; size=2;">W</span>raith <span style="font-family: Oblivion, Daedric Runes; size=2;">TALK</span> 17:37, 1 July 2007 (EDT): Neither Wrye Bash nor OBMM are going to fix this, since at least insofar as activating mods goes, they do the same thing as Oblivion's default launcher. However, both are recommended both for modding and for playing with mods.
::Anyway, another thought has occurred to me - have you tried loading your game with only your mod active? Another mod may be overwriting what you're doing.
::Also, since you have edited a vanilla Oblivion cell unnecessarily, your mod is what is considered "dirty". This is fine for a practice or test mod, but not for a released mod. If you wish to release this house, you'll either have to redo it, or else look into cleaning it (I'm not certain of the exact processes involved in cleaning a mod, but there is a lot of information on the subject to be found).
:::Haama 19:46, 1 July 2007 (EDT): Sorry this is just a suggestion, but you mentioned that you don't natively speak English, so are you by any chance using a non-US Oblivion patch? There's been a lot of problems with people using the new CS and an older version of Oblivion, so maybe there's a problem with the new CS and the latest version of foreign Oblivion patches? I guess you could try some older patches for both, but again this is pure speculation.
::::Megamaff I may had said I wasnt American, but i didnt say i wasnt english. lol. Im english, not patched oblivion either, when i try the latest it says it found a file with the same name so its ok, so theres no update. Think it means its already patched to be honest. I've cleaned my mod now, i learnt how to make my own cell. Once i figure outhow to show my results(which i may have solved by cleaning it) i can start really modding.Should I patch CS? I ran it with no other mods running and it still doesnt show up. Im running out of ideas now.
Haama 13:41, 2 July 2007 (EDT): Ah, ok, sorry, I couldn't find your comment that sparked DW's comment so I assumed you'd erased it. But I see it now, so my apologies. Back to the topic, when you fire up Oblivion, it'll say what version you're running down in the bottom left corner while the map/opening video is playing. You'll need the latest version of Oblivion (1.2.0416) if you're using the latest version of the CS (1.2). If all that's done, then do something simple with the mod first. Try setting up a quest with the "Start Game Enabled" flag, and put this quest script on it:
<pre>scn YourQuestScript
begin GameMode
message "Seems to be working"
StopQuest YourQuest
end</pre>
:<span style="font-family: Oblivion, Daedric Runes; size=2;">D</span>ragoon <span style="font-family: Oblivion, Daedric Runes; size=2;">W</span>raith <span style="font-family: Oblivion, Daedric Runes; size=2;">TALK</span> 13:57, 2 July 2007 (EDT): You can use CS v1.2 when you have Oblivion v1.0 or 1.1? I didn't realize you could do that. Anyway, that would explain the problem - mods made with CS v1.2 don't work with Oblivion v1.0 or v1.1, as far as I know, and apparently when you attempt to do so, it simply doesn't load the plug-in.
:Now I wish I could write a little blurb about this on the download page... I'll ask Gstaff if we could have something written there.

Good news, It worked!!! I cleaned the mod and it worked. Came up with a few new problems, like the floor texture of anvil being wierd but the mod worked. Thanks for your help. When i've finished ill put a download up for you to see. Thanks! Just a question, but with this mod, the texture of the floor of anvil totally changed, whats wrong and how do i fix it?
I had the probelm with my cahnges not showing up. Oh, to other confused modders: MAKE SURE THE CONSTUCTION SET PATCH LEVEL AND THE OBLIVION PATCH LEVEL ARE THE SAME. IF THEY AREN'T IT WON'T WORK!!!!!
