Adobe Photoshop Plug-ins

Description

This installer contains two plug-ins and several helpful scripts for Adobe® Photoshop®:

  • NVIDIA Normal Map Filter
  • NVIDIA DDS Plug-in
  • NVIDIA Mipster Script
  • NVIDIA Cube Map Shuffler

The NVIDIA Normal Map filter creates normal maps from height maps for per pixel rendering.

The DDS plug-in supports the DXTC texture compression format and allows you to open and save .dds files in RGB format. It reads and writes .dds files compressed or uncompressed.

DDS Converter 2.1

Description

This tool allows you to convert .dds files to tga, bmp, jpg (J-peg), psd, and even more formats, and then back again. It is a GUI interface that uses NVIDIA's nvdxt.exe command line tool.

NConvert

Description

An additional resource for DDS files is NConvert (freeware). It can convert to and from DDS allowing DDS files to be converted to other formats. I recently used this tool to convert the DDS files that the TCS generates from the "Generate Local Maps" functon to jpegs. It is a console app (dos box) and not GUI. It will batch convert and is very fast.

ATI .TGA Normal Map Generator

Description

A stand alone .exe which generates simple normal maps from .tga files. Less powerful than the PS and GIMP plugins since it lacks scaleability and other functions. Also does not generate mip maps and so would need to be combined with DDS Converter 2.1 above.
