Numerous people (myself included) have encountered a problem when installing the CivilistationIV nif exporter plugin for 3D Studio Max. Basically the problem is that after installing, when you open 3D Studio Max, a box pops up that says:
Loading DLL's: DLL <C:/3dsMax7/Plugins/CivilizationIVmaxplugin.dlu> failed to initialize. Error Code: 126 - The specified module could not be found.
If you are getting this problem, then your copy of Windows is missing a certain .dll file. You can download the .dll file here. This file needs to be in your WINDOWS\system folder on the hard drive that you have Windows installed on. Place the .dll file in that location and your Civ4 exporter should now work! --eddwills 14:20, 1 June 2006 (EDT)
There is another possibility. Parts of this plugin need NVidias CG Toolkit. You can download it here [1]. d3dx9_26.dll does not need to be in windows/system (if you don't want to clutter your system). You can also put it in the 3d-studio directory where you put the CivilizationIV dlls to (like NiCgShaderLibDX920VC71.dll). Windows searches the current directory always first for dlls. --Fgandalf 14:35, 4 June 2006 (EDT)
