Template from Another Wiki

This is a Template that I designed for another Wiki. It is solely my own work, and it is placed here so that the source code may be adapted for use on this Wiki.

The text and sourcecode of this page are both taken verbatim from their original location, with the sole exceptions of the addition of this warning and the removal of the category tags for this as a Template.

This Template is designed to quickly place an article in a specific categorization. The Category system here is two-dimensional - there are sub-categories (Category: Equipment is a sub-category of Category: Items), and then there are "filtered categories", for example, Category: Items/Diablo II is the same as the Items category, but only lists items from Diablo II.

The Categorize tag will handle the filtration. To place an article in multiple subcategories, simply use the tag repeatedly.

The tag can handle up to three levels of filtration. Different categories have different levels, so how to use the tag varies somewhat from category to category. For each section below, italicized parameters are optional.

Item Categories[edit | edit source]

Category

Items are filtered by game, and then by expansion. For Diablo and Diablo III, which do not have expansions, only the first optional parameter is used. For Diablo II, the first two are used. Note that this system refers not only to the Items category, but also to subcategories of it.

For example, the Gotterdammerung Full Helm from Diablo would be categorized as follows:

Items
Equipment
Headgear

Which would produce the same effect as this:

Alternatively, Azurewrath Phase Blade from Diablo II would use this tag:

Items
Equipment
Weapons
Swords

Which would produce:

Places, People, Quests[edit | edit source]

Category

Places, people, and quests from within the game should be categorized according to what game they were in and where in that game they were.

Note that certain subcategories refer to people who appear once per act, and therefore do not use the final filtration level; to do so would result in a category of one article, which is unnecessary. In these cases, Expansion may be substituted for Act or Level if desired.

For example, Charsi was found in Act I of Template:Diablo II. So her tag is this:

NPCs
Vendors
Armorers

i.e.

Notice that Armorers are a subcategory of NPC that appears only once per Act, and therefore makes little sense to have a filtered version for each Act.

Factions[edit | edit source]

The Categorize tag can also be used for Factions, but Factions do not have filtration levels. Therefore, continuing the Charsi example above, she also has this:

producing this:

The Categorize tag does not save very much typing in this case, but may be helpful nonetheless. Most notably, the Categorize tag can be simply pasted into every member of that faction without editing for the character's name.

Skills[edit | edit source]

Example: Paladin's Holy Bolt:
