The Effect Item dialog box allows you to create and edit specific instances of magic effects for spells and enchantments. This dialog box is opened by right-clicking on the effect list in the spell or enchantment window. This dialog is different from the Magic Effects dialog box.

Main Fields

  • Effect: The magic effect that you want to apply. Choose "Script Effect" to apply a custom script.
  • Range: Self, Touch, or Target. These options may be restricted based on the type of magic you are adding the effect to.
  • Area: How much area this spell affects. Zero in this box affects no area around the target. Measured in feet, as opposed to Oblivion Units.
  • Duration: How long this effect lasts in seconds.
  • Magnitude: How "much" this spell does. For example, placing 5 in this box will make a fire effect do 5 damage.
  • ActorVal: Used for actor modification effects like Fortify Attribute.

Script Effect Info

  • Script: Name of the script to apply.
  • Effect Name: The name of the effect that will be displayed in the game.
  • School: The magic school that the effect belongs to.
  • Visuals Effect: What effect will be displayed on casting.
  • Effect is Hostile: Casting this spell will be a hostile action.
