=.omod File Type and my uses of it=
Anything you have to say with regards to the note I posted on the bottom of my page ought to go here.
:I don't use omods. And never will. Installing my mods is an IQ-test. Filters out the group of users that would be better off with an XBOX and usually require 95% of the support-work. Actually, in my opinion, OBMM causes much more trouble than it's good. Users convert everything into omods and install several exclusive versions of one ESP, and they use that damned conflict check function, without even trying to understand that the red conflicts are much more harmless than the yellow ones could prove to be. (Besides the fact that OBMM still reports administative entries like DIAL as conflicts...)--[[User:JOG|JOG]] 13:16, 3 September 2006 (EDT)

I'd released a mod as omod only and gotten hellfire for it, so I was pissed and belligerent  and wrote that.
::Second, I completely agree about the annoyances that the conflict detector causes - but it '''is''' a useful tool for those who are aware of exactly what a given conflict means. Timeslip himself will admit that it's not meant to mean that there is necessarily a problem, and he has done quite a bit to true and explain to people that they don't have to freak out about conflicts.
::As for the rest of your comments, however, I have to disagree. By using OBMM, you guaruntee that files are in their proper places, and that AI.txt is handled. That eliminates 99% of the stupid, bash-my-head-against-a-wall questions. I don't know what you mean by the problems of converting everything to .omod's - it's infinitely more convenient than everything being cluttered in the Data folder. Not sure what is meant by "install several exclusive versions of one ESP". I can't really respond because I don't know what you mean.
::I also am not sure I like the idea of mods-as-IQ-tests - on the one hand, that kind of stupidity ought not be accomodated, but on the other hand I don't like the idea of making mods exclusive to those who figure out how to use them (even though it's not hard and people who are too lazy or too stupid to do so aren't worth my time). I'm split on that one.
