My Current Questions[edit source]

This is where I'll put up any questions I have that I'd like answered, in case anyone comes in here and knows an answer to any of them. Each will link to the page in which I've asked the question.

Heads up for new users[edit source]

I posted this suggestion sometime ago. Is it feasible to implement ?

CSbot formating[edit source]

Hi, DW. The ar_constuct line from the OBSE doc is "(array_var) ar_Construct arrayType:string". From the little i could figure out about the CSbot, it seems that it got confused with the return value being a single word. The ar_construct page has 'returnVal = array_var' but no 'returnType', resulting in a command line of '(void) ar_Construct arrayType:string'. Somewhere along the line it lost the original info and replaced it with 'void'. I could add a 'returnType' to the raw text, but decided to leave it alone, so you could check. Questions and Answers[edit source]

just noticed this :

Removed all Questions and Answered Questions to be deleted from those categories, and added "Discussion" to those that will remain

in the CSbot's user page - I wonder which articles had been deleted - is it possible to see them ? UDUN 06:47, 20 August 2010 (EDT)

CSbot SetStringGameSettingEX[edit source]

It appears that the CSbot got confused over the '|' character so part of the description is missing. Also, thanks for creating the CSbot. It could be very useful to have all the information in the wiki. LogicDragon 12:47, 23 August 2010 (EDT)

CSbot svDestruct[edit source]

I'm not sure what happened here but the sv_Destruct page is missing the description and one of the examples is incorrect. LogicDragon 19:48, 28 August 2010 (EDT)

Bot approval and request a bot flag[edit source]

A while ago I’ve read a topic on the wiki about welcoming new users. At this moment there is only one bot active on this Wiki. welcoming new users required a bot and I couldn’t ask your bot to do this because you were not certain the bot was allowed to be "always on" like that and you are always busy taking care of other things so I decided to create my own. I searched more information about bots and eventualy I managed to set up my own bot.

DXbot (The account has been created but it's empty) is a PyWikipedia-based robot, just like your bot and when approved it will run the welcome.py to welcome all new users (with less than one edit)(but I think I need to change it first so it fits this Wiki).

First of all my bot needs to be approved before I use it and since you’re the only one who has a bot I think it’s best if I ask you. I have another request if it has been approved: I don’t want it to clutter recent changes so it needs to be flagged as a bot before making any edits on the CSWiki.

If it gets approved and if it gets flagged as a bot, the only problem left for me to solve is to create a welcome template but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem. (I actually thought it would be much harder to install and run a bot. I only had a few problems with the wiki-family thing.)

Quick Question[edit source]

I hate to ask questions, but I thought this would be the fastest way to find out. I type the name of my created mod into my computer search, and it comes up empty. Where can I find it? I need to attach it to an email. A thousand thanks, --Arch-Mage Matt 13:23, 11 September 2010 (EDT)

Get Script Variable[edit source]

I'm finished working on the research for this particular article. I've figured out how to use a Quest Script to store a reference value as well as how to retrieve that value. The functionality is tested and works as described.

Please check the article. AFAIK there is no similar explanation of this functionality on the Wiki. Also you may want to review the comments on the Discussion of the article for further notes. --Bruneauinfo 12:42, 23 December 2010 (EST)

GetMenuHasTrait - CSBot-Error[edit source]

Don't know why Inv/Mag Filter codes were here. Changed to MenuTypes which is required here. Also added an example to clarify the function goes for traits (i.e. <visible />, not children (i.e. a rect-element). Maybe not the best example (I think one checking for DarN would be better), but don't have the time to browse menu-files I don't use just for that.

G/SetPCAttributeBonus(C) - again CSBot[edit source]

Template:OBSE_Actor_Value_Codes was added to the non-C-versions, not the C-versions.

Problems wiht Recent Changes and other pages[edit source]

Hi, there, DW. For the past couple of weeks the Recent Changes page has been inaccessible most of the time (Error HTTP 500 = "The website is under maintenance" / "The website has a programming error"). Same for the search results page and a few others. I wonder if this is a general problem or it is just a matter of tweaking some local settings on my side. QQuix 10:10, 16 July 2011 (EDT)

Temporarily disabling account registration[edit source]

Could new account creation be disabled until the CK and its wiki are made public? It would certainly help curb the current onslaught of spammers.

About the search function[edit source]

It is better today.

Yesterday I could not find StopQuest. Today it is in the search results, but the resulting list brings articles that shouldn’t be there as they don't have the searched word.

And, although the link to StopQuest is in the results, there is the "Create the page "STOPQUEST" on this wiki! " at the top

Another thing I've just noticed is that the "List of Functions" (my personal main page) is incomplete. It stops in the middle of the "S" section. Some limit exceeded, perhaps?

And, btw, is there a automated way of applying templates (like a fill-the-blanks form) or do I type the whole thing? (which is no big deal, anyway) QQuix 05:10, 4 December 2011 (EST)

Well . . . knowing it is case sensitive will help a little. Let´s hope MediaWiki fixes the remaining issues in future releases.
OK. The Function template is well detailed, as you said. Easy to use. I will use it next time.QQuix 17:55, 5 December 2011 (EST)

Going Through the Beginner's Guides[edit source]

So I've finally been going through the newbie guides like I said I would weeks ago and I've been trying to keep in mind what you said about looking for things more experienced modders would likely miss. I am finding a few inconsistencies that have made some of the guides confusing from a noob perspective, but I'm not sure what to do about them for several reasons:

  1. I realize I'm nit picky about instructions and could be making a big deal out of things that aren't really a problem.
  2. These articles are featured, so I figure they've been combed through and edited by hundreds of people over the years and any problem I'm having with them is probably my fault.
  3. The inconsistencies have to do with things I don't know anything about, so I couldn't change them anyway.

Would you like me to make a note of articles that trip me up like this so you can consider them later, or are they not worth worrying about?

Holy dedication batman![edit source]

Hi, there. . . . Yeap. I am still working on my mod and update the WIKI every once in a while, when I have a chance, although I am afraid it feels more like a note-to-self than something to help the community. QQuix (talk) 17:27, 7 January 2015 (EST)
