Dragoon Wraith TALK 23:08, 19 July 2006 (EDT): Oh dear god these pages are long!! Seriously, can we cut down on these? What can be done?
ShadowDancer 23:26, 19 July 2006 (EDT): Probably the best solution would be to seperate out the individual questions to new articles classified by different categories. Unanswered questions still needing solutions, Answered questions, and New questions. Maybe even a page for questions that probably don't have an answer at this time/in this version of CS.
- Hopefully this problem is solved for now, although I suspect the Questions and Answered categories are going to fill up very quickly. Any ideas for keeping them organized? Maybe categories for types of questions? After over 150 edits to clean this page up, I'm going to be sorely PO'ed if it becomes messy again. ;) Scruggs 16:28, 8 October 2006 (EDT)
- Dragoon Wraith TALK 19:13, 8 October 2006 (EDT): Jeez! Impressive work, Scruggs, to say the least. I had wanted no part in that much re-organizing, I'm really impressed that you did that. Thank you, that's amazing.
- Hopefully we can keep this more managable now that you've cleaned it up. As for keeping the categories from going out of control... I don't know. Categories of questions is a good idea. What categories should we have?
- I think just broad categories like "Scripting", "Modeling", "World Editing", "AI" etc would be enough to keep things organized without people having to wonder which category their question belongs in. 3-6 categories would probably cover it; the bulk of the questions are script-related anyway.
- Amazing? No. I came down with the flu two days ago and I needed something to keep me occupied. ;) Took a while, though. I worried I'd come back here to find someone pushed the Revert button on me. :p Scruggs 20:17, 8 October 2006 (EDT)
- Dragoon Wraith TALK 01:13, 9 October 2006 (EDT): Might sub-categories for scripting be appropriate since that's where most of the questions are?
- And whatever your reasons, I find the motivation to sit there and do that quite amazing. I've had blocks of time long enough to do that with nothing to do, and I still never did it.
Join me over here on the left, please. :) It may be difficult to separate scripting questions into distinct categories. What did you have in mind - something like "AI Scripting Questions", "Movement scripts", "Magic Effect Scripts", etc? Actually, that last one definitely deserves a separate category. The main drawback is that you then probably want separate subcategories in the Answered category, since that one is even more crowded than Questions. Of course, once it's set up it shouldn't be difficult to maintain. Ideas for general categories:
- Quests & Dialog
- AI
- Modeling & Texturing
- Construction Set Questions
- Scripting:
- Magic Effect Scripts
- OBSE Scripting
- Movement & Rotation
- General Scripting
- Other Questions
