Category talk:Troubleshooting

Ok, I've split the whole thing up into separate articles as suggested. Hopefully this will make some of the stuff will start showing up on search results now.--Dev akm 14:22, 14 September 2007 (EDT)

This is off to a good start, dev_akm. It is already rather long - I think separate pages may be in order. Perhaps one for crashes, another for "what to do when your script stops running", one for common mistakes, and one for just a list of issues with specific functions (like removeItem not always working). I'll try to add some more stuff to the page. Scruggs 12:45, 5 March 2007 (EST)

Awesome! Good suggestion!--Dev akm 18:11, 7 March 2007 (EST)
This Category not only needs to be split in different parts. It also needs to get more attraction, because it is too hidden. You can't even find it by searching with "Troubleshooting" and it seems not even to be in any subcategory either nor is there a direct link from the main page. I suggest someone who can do it should put up a link (at the same hierarchy level as category "Scripting") to a central "Troubleshooting" category. And this category shouldn't be under the categories "Getting Started" (a small subtopic #9), "About Modding Etiquette" (again small topic under bug avoidance) or to find under some remarks at the "Community Portal". No wonder so many modders don't know what to avoid. --Scanner 10:36, 13 September 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, it's very strange that a category won't be found by a search. I guess the content needs to be moved into an article (or articles) within the category?

It can be found by search, but you need to set it up (somewhere in your preferences, I believe). See the wiki news for more info.

Ah, good tip, Haama. Thanks! Anyway it's now split into separate articles. Maybe not the best organization method, but it should suffice for now.

About "Remove Item", while I would leave this note here as something to look out for, I also think that this bug is caused by mods. At the very least, I know that "Guild Ownership" causes this problem (though that's no evidence that it doesn't exist in vanilla Oblivion). I think that, whatever is causing this bug, should also be documented here. I was unable to determine from the mod what caused it, but if anyone else can figure it out it would be a great boon.
