Decision: AFDing a Redirect page breaks the redirect. Redirect maintained rather than completing the deletion.
Pages marked for deletion and replaced by categories[edit | edit source]
This happens to me a lot: I search for TSFC and I end up on the TSFC page that is marked for deletion. This is because the new TSFC page is a category page. Yet there is no link from the AFD page to the new page. It would be much more handy if the old page redirected to the new page instead of sitting there uselessly. (p.s. if this is the wrong place to put this let me know, the AFD page set to put it here though so here it is) --Quetzilla 02:27, 21 April 2008 (EDT)
- The Talk page for the page in question would have been better, but whatever. The AFD thing is referring to discussions regarding whether or not the page should be deleted
- Try going to your Preferences and checking Category in the Search section. That should add the Category page to the search function.
- As for the AFD appearing in the Search, not much can be done about that but wait for Gstaff to actually delete it.
- That particular page used to redirect to the category page... not sure why it was changed or marked for deletion.--Speedo 10:23, 21 April 2008 (EDT)
- The redirect doesn't seem to work for that page, and keeps posting the # as a number instead of redirecting.--Haama 12:25, 21 April 2008 (EDT)
- Pretty sure that #REDIRECT only works if there's no other content on the page, so the afd template was probably screwing it up. Went ahead and fixed it.--Speedo 14:22, 21 April 2008 (EDT)
