Hello , im a new modder and i cant get the CS to save anything. I will load the Oblivion.esm and then, for example i will use the my first script mod and when im finished with the it, i will go to save it and a warning will pop up that says:

CreateFile('Data\helloworld.esp') in CreateTES failed with error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

i will then click YES to continue playing and this will pop up:

Unable to complete operation due to failureremoving previous file. Temp file remains.

again i will click YES to continue playing and now this will pop up:

CreateTES failed for file 'helloworld.esp'.Save aborted.

Try rebooting your computer, I heard this problem sometimes occurs right after installing the Construction Set. So try rebooting and move the question to the answered and solution category if that solved the problem. This is a common problem, I'm surprised there isn't a page in the solution category already. If it didn't post it here so we can help you further. I'm pleased you asked a question completely according to the rules (signed and categorized) we don't get that a lot.

Have you tried saving to a different file name? When you load up Oblivion.esm, are you also loading your plug-in (if you've already made one), and setting it to Active?--Haama 11:04, 1 December 2007 (EST)
Another issue might be one of permissions; Ensure that you have permission to create, read, execute and modify files in the %OblivionInstall%\Data directory. This can sometimes be caused by another user installing the application, or the application being installed on a network drive (ie/ not local). If you have administrative access, see if you can create a file (right click in explorer, new, Text file). If you can't, then it's user permission settings that are causing your woes. If you can, then it's application permission settings that are the trouble. If you're running in XP Home, then I do not know what to do, as I'm more familiar with the features of XP Pro. Get your system admininstrator to add "Everyone, Full Control" to the /data file, or specifically to helloworld.exp, if you're running in a secure environment.
That can happen if you have your esp open in another program at the same time, but restarting should have taken care of that. I had this problem for a while when I didn't notice a minimized copy of Tes4View.
