When the editor starts up, there are three windows displayed, the object window, the cell view, and the Render Window.

When creating and editing mods with the Construction Set, you will primarily be concerned with three windows: the Object Window, the Render Window, and the Cell View Window.  If you are not already familiar with the use of these three windows, you should learn about them now.  For information on the general use of the Construction Set, see A beginner's guide, lesson 1 - The Construction Set Primer.

General Mod Building
A typical mod building workflow involves loading a Cell from the Cell View Window into the Render Window, and then adding an object from the Object Window into the cell.  An object may be a simple item such as a plate on a table, or something more complicated such as an actor, with the ability to interact with the player in a meaningful way.  For more information on creating and editing objects, see:
:*How To Add Objects For Sale

All cells exist in world spaces. There are two types of world spaces, interiors and exteriors. The Interiors world space includes all interior cells for the entire game. The inside of every house and dungeons are cells in the Interiors world space.

Exteriors are a checkerboard of cells that have a landscape and sky. Each square cell is 4096x4096 units. Objects that span cells are considered to be in the cell that contains the centerpoint (or pivot point) of the object. In the editor, you can see a 3x3 grid of cells, where the selected cell is in the middle.  See the Landscape category for more info
Another common task is the creation of interior areas such as houses, shops, and dungeons. For information on these topics, see:

Modders may also wish to edit the landscape of an exterior cell.  Before attempting this, it is a good idea to have at least a passing familiarity with the concept of World Spaces and Cells.  For information on this, see:

It is best to become familiar with the above building projects before attempting to create a quest.  Even the most simple of quests generally involve a little of all of the skills mentioned above.  To learn more about creating a quest, see:
