I've found that using the "R" key to link pathgrids to a reference works fine, but you have to then exit pathgrid edit mode and re-enter it, or else you can't do further work. I have observed this in Construction Set Extended, but I don't know if the bug is in the unmodified CS. In any case, it's annoying but easily worked around simply by exiting and re-entering pathgrid edit mode after you set each linked node reference.--Syscrusher 2012-11-22
