Gaps Between Meshes[edit source]

screenshot

When snapping meshes together to make rooms + passages etc. does anyone else find that there are tiny gaps between the meshes even when using "snap to grid"? In this case you can the fog colour through the lines between the tiles. Does anyone know why this happens on my interiors but not on the ones in the original game? --Sykotik

Make sure you are snapping to angle as well, and that your pieces are laid out at right angles to the coordinates (i.e. you ought not to have many pieces, if any, that don't have rotations of 0, 90, 180, or 270). Otherwise you can still get gaps even with grid snapping. -- Nezroy 15:12, 25 May 2006 (EDT)
I already had angle snapping on. Thanks anyway. --Sykotik
I have found that there have been times when I have had to manually set the angle. Sometimes it does not snap to angle correctly.Decoup 23:23, 26 May 2006 (EDT)
At least it works different than we would expect, "Snap to Angle" at 90° just adds 90° to the current angle, so when you start at 15° you'll end up at 105°. This was different in the Morrowind CS. There, the object was always rotated to a multiple of 90.--JOG 03:33, 27 May 2006 (EDT)
I have not changed the angle of any of the meshes and have snapping on. They seem to line up fine in the CS but have tiny gaps in between in game. --Sykotik
Well no point in speculating. Show us one of your interiors in an esp and we'll tell you what you did wrong.--JOG 06:12, 27 May 2006 (EDT)
How do you upload files to the wiki? Maybe the gap is present in all the game dungeons and it is just hard to spot. --Sykotik
You don't. use http://www.rapidshare.de for example (ignore the german language, "Durchsuchen" is "Browse" and the "Upload" button is obvious) After uploading, click on okay and tell us the "Download-Link" on the bottom of the page.--JOG 03:15, 28 May 2006 (EDT)
Turns out there are gaps between all the meshes in the game dungeons too but the fog colour tends to be dark enough that you don't notice them I think. --Sykotik
Well, try to 'blend' the fog to the cave colour when it is dark. I've had all sorts of similar experiences, and usually this solves the problem (or at least makes it less obvious). Try using fog values of around 20, give or take? --TheImperialDragon 20:38, 28 May 2006 (EDT)
