I think you should mention in here that this first tutorial will walk you through adding elements to the existing official campaign. I am very interested in learning how to create a mod that is a completely separate world. While this tutorial might not be intended to answer that question, it might contain a link to an appropriate section of the wiki. --Krag 11:51, 1 April 2006 (EST)
A cleaner way to add a new interior cell, rather than duplicating an old one and deleting all content, is to right click any interior cell and choose Edit (alternately, pick [Cells...] from the [World] tab on the main menu bar). Then on the edit screen, right click any cell name and you will be given an option to create a new cell. I find this method faster and less error prone then the one outlined in the First Steps article. Mitijea 16:58, 5 June 2006 (EDT)
What are the "Undo Checkout" "Checkout All Children" "Refresh Checkout Status" options supposedly seen on right clicking on CreeppyCave in the Cell View ? I do not see them - is it possible to enable them or are not available in Version 1.0.303 (my version) ? Thanks for any help ! :) UDUN 14:29, 3 January 2007 (EST)
If the goal of this first page is a step by step demonstration aimed at absolute beginners, it would be useful to note that the TESC is empty when firstly open, and oblivion.esm is to be loaded by selecting "Data..." in the "File" menu, then checking the first item in the list.
Let me see if I understand this
So I want to make a plugin. I make a cave, fill it up all nice ect. ect. and then I save it as a plugin. I'm ok so far? So now, if I were to open this plugin by going to data --> myfirstdungeon (warning this is not active file continue --> ok) and place a big rock right in the middle of the arena, say (not that I have, this is just hypothetical). if i DONT activate this plugin then there will be NO ROCK in the game.
What Im basically asking is, if I totally skrew up while editing a plugin, would just removing said plugin make it go away? Or are there repercussions? Amthysteyes2 13:21, 1 October 2007 (EDT)
- If you make a change in the plugin that messes up the game, you can just remove the plugin from the list of data files that the game is using. That removes any mistake in that plugin from the game. Note that if you are editing someone else's plugin, you then need to get a clean copy of that plugin in order to use it again. However, if you are making a complex plugin that is taking you lots of hours to make, I would suggest also making a copy of that plugin every time that you are through modifying it once you verify that it is working the way you want. Nothing is worse than one mistake (this usually only happens when someone is cleaning the plugin) that ruins the plugin file.

Concerning the name
Does the fact that under name it still says 'fort strand' (editor id is changed) matter?? because i duplicated it again to make a fort.
Problem
I tried to follow the instructions, but I can't duplicate the cell. I tried to do it with the hotkeys and by right-clicking, but nothing happens.
