Welcome[edit source]

Welcome to the Wiki, well, the editing part, you've been reading already.

Just wanted to let you know that using Show preview instead of Save page is prefered. It's faster, less taxing on the server and database, and it will keep your edits out of the recent changes. Thank you!

Now I'm here typing a welcome anyway, I might as well point you towards the Wiki User Style, and the Toolkit is an essential tool if you're going to do some serious editing.

Thanks for the tips. I am just going thru the Editing Syntax Guide and trying my hand on editing. Didn’t occur to me it would clutter the Change Log. Sorry about that.
I was about to add something to the Syntax Guide talk page, but I will mention it here, instead:
Under Table of Contents it says: “ A Table of Contents is automatically created when you use 3 or more headings;”, but it seems the TOC is added only when you have 4 or more headings, not 3. (let me know if you read this and I wont add it there)

You're right, I changed it in the Syntax Guide.

Talk Page Comment Deletions[edit source]

People generally maintain their own Talk pages. Removing a comment of your own from someone's Talk page isn't terrible, but it's better to add a comment saying "nevermind" then to just mysteriously remove it.

On normal Talk pages, you can remove your own comments (and usually only your own comments), though again, a note to other editors about why you are doing so (even if just in the summary) would be appreciated.

At any rate, I don't think there's anything wrong with either section remaining on my Talk page, at least for now. I should clean it up at some point, though.

CSbot Formatting[edit source]

Actually, I call that a problem with the {{Function}} template. It should handle returnVal without returnType or vice versa more gracefully. Yeah, it should [i]probably[/i] use returnType = string_var instead of returnVal, but really it shouldn't matter.
Dragoon Wraith TALK 00:24, 13 August 2010 (EDT)

Alright, updated the Function template; should all work now.

Problems with Recent Changes and other pages[edit source]

Yeah, I've been seeing that too. It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I e-mailed them and they fixed it, but it's back... I'll e-mail them again.

About the search function[edit source]

Yeah, I've discussed this with them... basically, they've had to change how it works for system performance reasons. And the new version sucks even worse than the old one... It's case sensitive. Which is horrendously awful. I did learn that wildcards work in it, but that's a small consolation.
So searching for StopQuest will result in "There is a page called StopQuest on this Wiki." but stopquest will result in "Create the stopquest page.". On some level, this is accurate — you'll notice that my second link here will bring you to a separate, blank page. MediaWiki in general is case sensitive about page names (except for the first letter), which I have always found annoying.
As for List of Functions... I don't know. Now I'm very worried that other long pages may have gotten cut off, too...
And no, there's no form or anything for Templates. I tried to document templates pretty thoroughly.

Super huge commit[edit source]

I hope you didn't have to compile that list manually! Brilliant job regardless! Thank you.

No, I'm afraid not. DragoonWraith's the one to ask about it but I believe he's very busy with RL at the moment. If I recall correctly, the bot is written in Python; it might help if you've got prior experience with the language.
