Talk:Spell
Hello, i'm trying to create a flight spell. I'm intending to use the swim physics from the game, as well as the animation. The net effect would be just like swimming in the air, or 'air swimming'. I just thought i'd post here in case anyone has some suggestions. - rmullen
- My suggestion would be, "don't do that." But it's your dime. You'll probably have to limit the spell to interior cells, and even then I'm sure you'll run into game-breaking problems. Nerdbeard 22:54, 29 March 2006 (EST)

Question about area radius: what scale is it at, compared to GetDistance? 512 seemed reasonable for GetDistance to me (and it was), but when I use 512 as a spell's area radius, it explodes across half of my entire dungeon. Any ideas? --MaXiMiUS 20:27, 12 May 2006 (EDT)
- Spell ranges are in feet. Scripted distances are otherwise in "units". --JT 21:13, 18 April 2007 (EDT)
- Just to clarify for anyone who still cares: 512 units is only 24 feet. So a GetDistance 512 is about as far as from your living room to your kitchen or some such. But a spell radius is considerably larger: to convert from feet to units, multiply by (128/6). That particular example had a spell exploding well over the length of a football field — even a CFL one — at 10,9222/3 units. Tactical nuclear strike? ;-) (Including end zones, an NFL field is 7,680 units, and a CFL field is 9,600 units.) --JT 20:19, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

There should be something in the article about this checkbox ('new' in CS 1.0)
- Yeah, there should. I haven't played with it much, anyone know how it works in detail?
