Special Combat[edit source]

Based on existing data, it appears Special Combat means that the NPCs neither call the guards nor assign bounty to the player if they are attacked, even if they are not an Evil faction. It is assigned to Arena Combatants, to sparring partners, and to some members of the Dark Brotherhood. Further testing needed. --JT 15:34, 6 June 2006 (EDT)

What about NPC vs NPC? It seems they call guards even though both are in a faction with Special Combat enabled. Loly 16:44, 31 July 2007 (EDT)
There are two NPCs fighting/practicing in the arena district, they don't call the guards about it neither do other NPCs. I have no idea how they are set up, but at least it's possible for NPC vs NPC. --Qazaaq 17:31, 31 July 2007 (EDT)
Maybe I am dumb but in the arena are only combatants who practice on dummies. And IIRC the practicing in fighting guilds are not "real" fights, they just swing at a marker.
I looked at the Blue vs Yellow fights in the arena you can bet on. They are in one faction with special combat enabled and use startcombat. Exactly like I did. Maybe the problem is that one of my NPCs is in more then one faction? Loly 05:13, 1 August 2007 (EDT)
That could cause a problem. The NPCs I mean are not inside the arena, the are in the arena district outside the arena near the gate to the Elven Gardens District IIRC. --Qazaaq 18:04, 1 August 2007 (EDT)

Ahh... you mean the Arenahopefuls? Saliith and Brawen? They use useitemat marker, too. I guess the "special combat"-flag is only for the player so the player gets no bounty. :/
I tried and have 2 NPCs in one faction and the guards were still alerted. :(

Presumably there's no one to report the Blues and Yellows, that's why there's no bounty for them.
Or they simply disappear after the fight and never run into any guards.

Crime Gold Multiplier[edit source]

If I were to set the crime gold multiplier to zero, would it effectively make everyone in that faction above the law? Or, rather, does it only apply to what your bounty is at the time you first join?
