Regarding Bylines[edit source]

As you are probably not aware, there was a discussion, first on the Community Portal, and then in an ESF thread, regarding bylines. Generally speaking, we feel that by adding your name to an article, you separate it from the rest of the Wiki and discourage other users from updating and improving the article. Since this is a Wiki and that is the point, we have decided that we are no longer going to allow bylines. This is a bit tricky, because so many tutorials were written beforehand, hence the creation of the {{Byline}} tag to explain the situation and to keep a list of bylined articles.

If possible, I would like to have your input regarding this issue. Please feel free to respond in the Community Portal or the thread.

Thank you.

I completely understand the need for the warning in general. A new user does need to understand mod isolation. The warning just seemed out of place where it was. What I meant is that the warning be replaced with a link to a more detailed article on mod isolation.
As for the mod de-isolation tutorial, I don't think Dev_akm would mind if you added your section to it. The problem was created more by some problems he was already having with Wrye and the fact that Wrye all but deleted his entire article when Wrye contributed his new version. If you want, Dev_akm does come here fairly often, so you could leave a message on his Talk page. That way you can be sure there won't be a problem. After all that arguing, he still hasn't updated that page, which is rather frustrating to me...
Anyway, yes, it's an advanced topic. We need (if we don't already have) a page on mod isolation, and what that means. For most modders, it is something you simply have to live with - the workarounds are complex and not all of them are completely satisfactory in the first place.
On that note, thank you for your contributions and your understanding. I personally believe that it has done a lot to improve this Wiki. Thanks.

I've been thinking along those same lines myself, DW. in the next week or so I will see what I can do about creating a formal mod deisolation page in a little more strategically placed position and link it to the appropriate places. Wiki syntax isn't my strongest suit however, so I may need help at the end wikifying the links and getting the formatting spot on. Many thanks, BTW, to ShadowDancer and othes how have already been fixing stuff like that for me behind the scenes.

No problem, its what we do. LOL Actually, I admit to cheating a little bit by having a copy of the wiki reference card (just so you know, its a pdf file). It comes in useful when you forget how to do things.
