CS Crashes. Adding new topic in CS.

I am able to modify all setting except Topics, when I do this the CS crashes. I am desperate to make companions. I run on win7 and have changed user settings, I have the fifth year anniversary addition with The Construction Set v1.2 with the patcher. I have tried many workarounds like duplicating an NPC, but the topics do not follow. Following the directions on the wiki it always leads to a crash at add new topic. I only have oblivion and my mod loaded. I have read the post on her for add new topic error and it does not relate to my issue although the title would indicate it would. It refers to multiple mods that "modify" GREETING in new topic and to change the load order as a work around. My issue is when Oblivion .esm and my active mod are the only ones loaded. I have run as admin, changed security settings. please help with another solution or workaround.

Hi.
I'm afraid I don't know the cause of your problem. Unfortunately, odds are very high that I am the only person who will ever see it here. I strongly suggest that you ask your question on the Forums; a lot more people check there, and you're more likely to get a better answer more quickly there.
Questions on the Wiki usually should have to do with the Wiki itself, rather than modding; troubleshooting generally goes on the forums for all the reasons I just mentioned.
Sorry about that, and good luck,

mean, I shouldn't post this here?
However, I guess it would help to plug a TRS connector in your PC. It's a common problem on Win7 afaik and in several other cases it helped (the weirdest bug I know so far).

Nope, totally allowed, just not usually recommended. As long as its in someone's User talk page, or something similar.
As for that solution, what's a TRS connector? And why on earth would that matter?

1. Well, I'm not English, so I just searched for the German word in Wikipedia and chose languages -> English ;-) Anyway, what I actually meant is this.
2. I don't know, why it helps, but I found several threads on that on the forums, for example here and here.

Thanks for hearing me out. I found the answer on www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums after going though countless pages. A microphone or headphone needs to be plugged into the PC mic input. I have questions that I have searched for and asked and have not gotten an answer to. I would like to ask but I don't want to abuse this great site. Is it okay if I ask one more question?

You are allowed to put whatever you like (excepting things like spam, hate, "adult" subjects, etc.) on your own User and User Talk pages and subpages (e.g. this one), my warning was mostly just that you may not get a useful answer here; the Forums are just more likely to have a good answer for you.

I appreciate your time any everyone's here. I think I found the answer I was looking for. I wanted to put in game voices on my companion and have not met with success. I believe I have to unpack Oblivion and find the voices which is awful. I wish there was a resource for vanilla voices. so I assume I have to duplicate the oblivion.esm paste it into a new folder, unpack it and try to figure out what file is which NPC's voice. found here http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Rent_A_Room_Tutorial#The_Dialogues. Thank you again.

Try looking up CSE by shadeMe, it allows you to access BSA'd stuff without unpacking them. OBMM also allows you to extract individual files, which is nice.
Afraid I don't really know anything about doing voices, though.

The dialogue system in Oblivion works with entries. Each entry contains sound and text. You can identify the entries you need by the subtitles. I believe you can duplicate existing entries, that way you can reuse the sound and subtitles, but add different conditions without modifying the existing entry.

@Qazaaq. Do you have suggestions where I can look further into this? or what the steps needed are? What you said sounds good, but is honestly over my head. is there a guide or tutorial? I know of a lot of mods the incorporate vanilla dialogue. Is it just as easy as copying text from one topic? I have ruight clicked the entire dialogue window with no options to edit. @DragoonWraith. I appreciate your suggestions as they are good, however I found CSE on nexus and it has a lot of changes to CS and I don't know if I am ready top commit to it just to have voice options. I have been using BSA commander for packing and unpacking and have not had any issues as of yet. I may DL OBMM in the future. Thanks!

CSE is highly recommended, especially for voices (since it saves you the hassle of switching between CS 1.0 and CS 1.2 to make the lip synch files, since 1.2 broke the lip synch generator). Seriously, I use it all the time and a lot of serious modders swear by it. It will very much save you time (and aggravation, since it catches a number of different bugs that result in crashes normally).
