The resolution of your image file will denote the level of detail you get in the map in game. The usable dimensions define how much of the map appears in the game. Halve the default values and you will only see the top left quarter of the original map. This is not entirely accurate though, as you'll see if you compare the default values in the CS to the corresponding pixel in the image itself, and then look at what you can see in-game. The cell co-ordinates then scale the location of the land markers within your map.
