There's actually quite a bit more that you can do with the console. Unfortunately I can't figure most of it out yet, as the console output is so short. Any of the commands that list a lot of stuff (like "help" or "sq") only display the last few items in the list as everything gets scrolled off the top. If anybody knows how, please add a note to the article that explains how to either increase the amount of text displayed or how to page through the text so you can read it all. Scrolling the Console[edit source]

You can scroll the console output by using PageUp and PageDown. (Also, don't forget to sign your comments using four tildes!) Daego 14:51, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Breaks formatting[edit source]

I would just like to comment that, on my screen, the table on this page breaks formatting. it goes off furthur to the right then there's background. I think a shrinking of column widths is in order. Stormscape 15:59, 28 March 2006 (EST)

I am almost done reformatting the table into Wiki Code instead of the copy & paste HTML that is there now. Give me a bit longer. Daego 16:12, 28 March 2006 (EST)

Category?[edit source]

Just a general observation about topics being "Categories". Not sure if anyone would agree with me , but shouldn't categories have limited descriptive content ( Meaning just a minimal description , and then pointers to common topics ). I think , and correct me if i am wrong , that this huge table in the beginning of the category would be easier readable if it was it its own topic (perhaps "Console functions - Overview") added to the category list itself ? Applies to .. TES3? TES4 Oblivion? (2008)[edit source]

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but I'm confused by the organization of this wiki: does this article apply specifically to a specific Elder Scrolls game (i.e. "Oblivion"), or are console commands shared across 'E.S. III' and 'E.S. IV'? Thanks in advance, - Laisren 06:31, 7 March 2008 (EST)

The whole Wiki applies to TES4 only, there's shouldn't be any TES3 specific information. There are probably similar console commands for Morrowind but you can't trust them to follow the description from this page.

TGM, TCL, and COC certainly existed in Morrowind... most of these did not, however. I'm afraid I haven't so much has had Morrowind installed for two years now, so I really can't give more information than that, or even a link. Sorry.

Vista[edit source]

Just wanted to make note that Oblivion on Vista sometimes does not like the use of the tilde key to open the console.

I can definitely confirm this. Here's a mod to fix that (Ring of Console) available on the TESNexus site. After looking under the hood of this mod, it just seems like the game just doesn't recognize Shift+` key combo. The mod author's fix for this was to simply call "TapKey 41" function on-equip of a custom item. I haven't tested the mod myself (instead making an ability script checking for "iskeypressed2 148" in the "ScriptEffectUpdate" block to fake it), but I can confirm that the author's simple "TapKey 41" solution works. 8asrun6aer 17:45, 5 January 2012 (EST);
