Talk:Creating a House
Images[edit source]
Some of the Images I've added to the tutorial don't actually seem all too useful after all, and some of them are 150KB+. A second opinion would be nice. On that note, where should I add in more images? The article looks bare without, and could do with some for added detail anyhow.
Also, I'm working on adding the Ownership section at the moment - I accidentally pressed the Save Page button instead of Preview after nearly finishing... :( Gregbert 17:38, 2 May 2009 (EDT).
- Pictures are great, don't worry about the filesize (well, within reason. Greater than 150 kB is OK). The more the better, this Wiki needs more. Also, they don't all need to be Thumbnails - it'd be nice to have some of the bigger, more important ones out in the middle of the page so you can see them as you're reading.
- Also, you should sign comments on Talk pages with ~~~~; it helps keep track of who is saying what.

- Okay, I like pictures too then :P
- Is the whole article okay? I'm not sure if it's all wiki-standard context wise. Also, it's telling me when I edit it that "This page is 33 kilobytes long; some browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb. Please consider breaking the page into smaller sections.". How much of a problem is that? I still feel fairly noob! :P

- The browsers they are referring to are over 10 years old. If anyone comes here with one of those I will direct them to download a newer browser.
- Not that they'd get this far; a browser that old wouldn't support the CSS that's needed to render the page correctly. Much more recent browsers (say, 5 years old) have problems with certain parts of it.
- Anyway, the guide looks great. Wish more tutorials on this site had this quality.

- Aw, you flatter me.
- On that note, thanks for the info on the size limit thing. I was really concerned I'd have to cut some of it out! Thanks again!

Deleting references[edit source]
Your guide looks great, but I'd like to point out one thing that maybe should be changed. Where you talk about placing the house in BrumaWorld you mention to select a bunch of rocks and trees and delete them. Deleted references can lead to problems later on; they should be disabled and probably z-moved out of sight. I'm not very familiar with that end of the CS so I'm not comfortable describing how it should be done as a tutorial. Maybe someone with more render-window experience than me should tackle it? - I think you might have a point. I'll check the whole mod for deleted references. I reckon there shouldn't be too many more. Surely just cleaning the mod should remove any issues with deleted objects? None of the objects had a reference, and none seemed to have any significance ingame. Cheers for the heads up, though. I'll check it out! Again, anyone with more experience than either of us would be awesome. :P
