Bylining[edit source]

SaidenStorm, please take no offense (I have the utmost respect for your work), but this article is something of a problem for the CS Wiki. As per a discussion here (and here and here), "bylines" (as in "by so-and-so") are not allowed on any articles here. You may have noticed that some of the older tutorials have bylines, along with this header, because they were written before that discussion.

However, your article is quite recent, and so the rules dictate that this article cannot be "Saiden Storm's" Max Animation Tutorial. There are a number of reasons for this, but mostly it's because articles on the Wiki are considered the property of the Oblivion community, and therefore not the property of whoever has written them. Adding your name to an article implies that others are not meant to edit it, and that you retain control over it. That is not the case (and if that is what you desire, you'll have to find somewhere else to host this, I'm afraid; it may be possible to link to your tutorial from some relevant page here, however), and therefore the byline is misleading.

We do not allow this because we believe it is to the detriment of the Wiki and the sharing of knowledge. On some level, this is an exception - it would be better to have your article, with the byline, than not, but we have to be consistent with the rules. The only exception we allow is the Oblivion Mods FAQ, because Bethesda has determined that it wants a mirror of the FAQ on here and we're mirroring dev_akm's pinned thread on the ESF.

Therefore, this page must either have your name removed from it entirely, or else it must be deleted. We certainly are not trying to steal credit from you; in many ways this rule arises from a desire to avoid issues where someone other than the original author adds considerable amounts to an article, but the original author's name remains on the article (as has occurred in a number of places). The History page provides extremely specific information on who is responsible for edits to an article.

I am sorry if this is not acceptable to you, but I do intend to uphold the rules. Please let respond here with any thoughts, comments, or complaints. If you accept the rules, I can also help with moving the article and cleaning it up. Let me know what you want to do.

Thank you for your contributions to Oblivion modding, and thank you for offering this tutorial for others. I hope some resolution can be attained.
