This tutorial will take you through creating your first dungeon, using the same tools and techniques we employed when creating TESIV:Oblivion. This tutorial is suitable for a beginner, and attempts to walk the novice through every step of the dungeon building workflow.

Veteran users familiar with the previous iteration of the Construction Set (CS) will also find this tutorial useful as an update on working with the CS as it ships with TESIV.

The user should have the CS installed with TESIV's art resources available, and follow along with the tutorial as closely as possible, taking plenty of time to absorb the information presented in each section. Example plugins are not available for download at this time.

Please note that the primary goal of this tutorial is instruction in use of the CS as it applies to dungeon building. Good level design and fun factor are not priorities here.

  1. First Steps
  2. Using Building Blocks and Navigating the Render Window
  3. Develop Your Dungeon and Clutter
  4. Containers, doors, Havok objects, and Enemy Placement
  5. Furniture, Traps, and Lighting
  6. Pathing and Playtesting
  7. Linking Cells and Connecting to the Outside World
